2016-2017 Championsip Profit & Loss League Tables

It’s been a few weeks now since the 2016/2017 Championship season ended but we’re already feeling withdrawal symptoms.

Ante-post favourites Newcastle have been promoted to the Premier League as champions and will be joined by Brighton and either Huddersfield or Reading. Meanwhile Blackburn, Wigan and Rotherham were all relegated.

What we and hopefully you (hence why you’re on this page) want to know however is which teams yielded the biggest profit and which teams were the ones to avoid?

2016/2017 Championship Profit & Loss League Tables

Below we’ve created three tables:

  • Home & Away Record combined.
  • Home Record only.
  • Away Record only.

The tables rank all 24 Championship sides based on who yielded the most profit (1) to who yielded the least profit (20) based on a £10 base stake on teams to win every game.

In case you were wondering, we also have Profit & Loss tables available for the Premier League and League One and League Two also.

Key

  • P/L = Profit/Loss
  • ROI = Total P/L as a % of total stakes if £10 was staked on the team to win every game.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Reading yielded the most profit overall – Jaap Stam’s side would have made you around £245 from £10 stakes. It turns out also that The Royals were the most profitable home side to back (£140) and the third most profitable away side to back (£105) behind Barnsley (£105) and Fulham (£108).

Meanwhile Rotherham, who managed a league low of just 5 wins, yielded the least profit overall – in fact Paul Warne’s side would have cost you £280 had you them to win all 46 games with £10, £49 had you backed them in all 23 home games and £230 had you backed them in all 23 away games.
