- Date: 19/05/19

- Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
It’s do-or-die now for Milan, as they host Frosinone in what is a must-win for the Rossoneri if they are to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.
With the gap from Milan and Atalanta being three points with two games remaining, Atalanta hold the advantage, knowing that if they get four points from their final two games, they will play Champions League football next season.
Atalanta travel to Juventus this weekend so a Milan win here would close the gap, but Atalanta’s goal difference is far superior to Milan’s, meaning that Milan need Juventus to win and then hope Atalanta lose or draw against Sassuolo at home next weekend.
The odds are slim but Milan must win here and hope for the best. Luckily for them, they host an already relegated side in Frosinone, who have won just five league games this season.
The trio of Bonaventura, Caldara, Calabria are all out for the season and Paqueta is still suspended.
Marco Sportiello has served his suspension, but it remains to be seen if he is rushed back into the starting team. Otherwise they will be unchanged from their defeat to Udinese.
Potential Milan Starting XI: Donnarumma; Abate, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Bakayoko, Calhanoglu; Suso, Piatek, Borini
Potential Frosinone Starting XI: Bardi; Brighenti, Ariaudo, Capuano; Zampano, Cassata, Maiello, Beghetto, Ciano; Dionisi, Trotta
Head To Head
- These two have only ever played three times; with Milan winning one of them and two draws.
Key Stats & Facts
- Frosinone have lost their last three Serie A games.
- Milan have lost just two of their last 10 home games in the league.
- Milan – 1/8
- Draw – 3/1
- Frosinone – 22/1
Looking at the records of both sides and the positioning in the table, this has all the makings of a straight-forward win for the home side.
Milan know they have to win and that should give them the motivation to get the job done, whereas their visitors have nothing left to play for.
Four of Frosinone’s five wins have come away from home and they did beat Fiorentina in Florence recently, which will give them hope. However, Milan have won six of their last nine at home and their record at the San Siro to sides in the bottom half has been good. Their overall record against bottom half reads; P9 W7 D1 L1.
BTTS has landed in six of those games and over 2.5 has landed seven times. Only three times in those nine have Milan won by two or more goals, so they don’t always thrash these sides. Given the circumstances, I think it will be slightly nervy for Gattuso’s men, even if they do manage the win.
