AC Milan host Juventus on Sunday as The Old Lady aim to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table.
Pressure seems to be mounting on Gennaro Gattuso on the Milan bench; they have been largely inconsistent across both Serie A and Europa League, with a 1-1 home draw with Real Betis on Thursday night frustrating many fans.
In what appears to be a tight race for fourth place, this is a game that Milan can’t afford to lose. Should they fail to win and Lazio defeat Sassuolo, they will surrender their table position to the Biancocelesti.
Meanwhile, Juventus are flying. They have have only dropped points once so far this season; a 1-1 draw with Genoa. However, midweek they were humbled 2-1 in stoppage time by Manchester United in Turin. Milan have been leaky at times in defence; they have conceded 14 goals so far this season and have remarkably only kept one clean sheet. This is a vast contrast to Juventus, who host the second best attacking record in the league with 24 goals.
Gonzalo Higuain is doubtful to make an appearance against his parent club, while Giacomo Bonaventura, Mattia Caldara and Lucas Biglia are also absent with injury.
Juventus, however, are without Emre Can and Moise Kean for the match, while Douglas Costa is doubtful.
Potential AC Milan Starting XI: Donnarumma, Calabria, Zapata, Romagnoli, Rodriguez, Kessie, Bakayoko, Laxalt, Suso, Cutrone, Castillejo
Potential Juventus Starting XI: Szczesny, Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Sandro, Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi, Dybala, Mandzukic, Ronaldo
Key Stats & Facts
- Juventus have won 10 of their last 11 games against Milan.
- Paulo Dybala has scored five times and provided two assists in eight league appearance against Milan
- AC Milan – 9/2
- Draw – 14/5
- Juventus – 11/14
Milan are way too injury depleted to provide a threat to Juventus in this match. Their biggest attacking threat comes in the form of Suso, who has been in great form this season, however I can’t see past Juventus here.
I expect a high-scoring affair with Juventus taking this and over 2.5 goals being scored.
