Thanks to a brace from Daniel Sundgren, AIK walk into this fixture with the upper-hand as the Swedish side took the lead within the first leg. Shamrock Rovers certainly have a task on their hands when it comes to taking on this side. AIK are one of the most formidable sides in Swedish football, winning 11 league titles. Furthermore, considering that AIK managed to defeat the Irish side at home, Shamrock will struggle even more as they will attempt to overturn an AIK side at the Friends Arena.
Therefore, the Rovers will have to turn to key players within the side if they wish for their European journey to continue. One of these players being teenage sensation, Gavin Bazunu, who stole the headlines this month for his heroics against Cork City. The 16-year-old was the man of the moment as he produced an excellent penalty save to maintain his clean sheet record of four consecutive games.
Following a horrific incident last season, AIK centre-back, Jesper Nyholm, suffered a broken tibia and fibula and is still within the recovery process.
Shamrock Rovers enter this fixture with a fully fit squad as they aim to continue their European journey.
Potential AIK Starting XI: Linner; Hauksson, Karlsson, Milosevic, Olsson; Adu, Yasin Ghani, Elyounoussi, Sundgren; Jansson, Goitom
Potential Shamrock Rovers Starting XI: Bazunu; Boyle, Grace, Bolger, Watts; Finn, Carr, Kavanagh, Coustrain; O’Brien, Bone
