Arsenal host Bournemouth on Wednesday night looking to pick up where they left off against Southampton on Sunday. The Gunners will fancy their chances of grabbing another 3 points against a Bournemouth side who have struggled on the road this season. The visitors also have mounting injuries to contend with ahead of their visit to London, they’ll be without the likes of David Brooks, Lewis Cook, Callum Wilson and Jefferson Lerma, so it could be a tough evening ahead for the Cherries.
Arsenal go into the game as overwhelming favourites at 4/9 (Bet365) with Bournemouth priced at 7/1 to grab what would be a surprise win. Bournemouth have struggled on the road against top 6 teams this season losing all 5 matches that they have played. The Cherries have only managed to score 2 goals in those 5 games and have conceded an average of 3.4 goals per match at the other end.
Bournemouth will be without a host of first team players for their trip to the Emirates. David Brooks, Lewis Cook, Steve Cook, Callum Wilson, Simon Francis and Jefferson Lerma are all expected to be out for the game.
Arsenal will be without Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck who are long term injuries.
Potential Arsenal Starting XI: Leno, Lichtsteiner, Mustafi, Sokratis, Kolasinac,Torreira, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Ramsey, Aubameyang, Lacazette
Potential Bournemouth Starting XI: Boruc, Clyne, Mepham, Ake, Smith, Ibe, Gosling, Surman, Fraser, King, Solanke
Head To Head
- Wednesday’s showdown will be the 9th competitive meeting between the two sides. Arsenal have won 6 games with Bournemouth winning 1.
- Arsenal have never failed to score in any of their previous clashes with the Cherries.
Key Stats & Facts
- Joshua King has 3 goals in his last 4 PL games and he scored Bournemouth’s goal when these two sides met earlier in the season.
- Arsenal have scored 2 or more goals in each of their last 5 home league games.
- Arsenal have conceded under 1.5 match goals in eight of their last ten home competitive matches.
- Arsenal 4/9
- Draw 4/1
- Bournemouth 7/1
Arsenal have been strong at home this season and it’s that home form that has pushed them into the top 4. The Gunners have a big chance to keep that push for the Champions League football going when they face a depleted Bournemouth side that have struggled on the road against the big boys of the league. Arsenal are a very short price to win this game outright but I like the look of them to win this game by a few goals. The Gunners have scored 2 or more goals in each of their last 5 home league games and I fancy them to carry on that form come Wednesday. Arsenal to win and over 2.5 goals in the match is 19/20 (Ladbrokes) and I think that could be good value with the hosts in form and against a patched up opposition.
Bournemouth have played some good football this year and they are by no means a terrible side. However to get a result away from home you normally need to be solid at the back. In their past 2 away games they have conceded 5 goals without scoring which includes a 2-0 defeat to relegation threatened Cardiff City. The Cherries have also struggled to find the back of the net away from home in recent times scoring just 1 goal in their last 5 games on the road. Compare that to Arsenal’s recent defensive home record of conceding just 2 goals in their last 5 home games and you can see why I think Arsenal to win to nil at 43/25 (Marathon Bet) is a good angle.
