Arsenal and Burnley face off in what should be an intriguing game to kick start the weekend’s Premier League football. The Gunners managed to grab 3 points on the road at Newcastle and they kept a clean sheet which will be a massive boost to them.
Burnley opened their season with a thumping 3-0 victory at home against a much-fancied Southampton side. Manager Sean Dyche has commented on how fit his squad are this season compared to last season. That fitness will be tested on Saturday with Arsenal expected to have most of the possession.
The Gunners will look to blood in some of their new signings and they will also have Mezut Ozil and Saed Kolasinac available after they were cleared to play after recent safety worries.
Potential Arsenal Starting XI: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Luiz, Sokratis, Monreal, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Pepe, Auabameyang, Mkhitaryan
Potential Burnely Starting XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundson, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Barnes
Key Stats & Facts
- Arsenal had the 3rd best home form last season.
- Burnley registered seven 0-0 half-time scorelines last season.
- Burnley haven’t managed a first half goal against arsenal in the last nine PL H2H.
- Arsenal 3/10
- Draw 9/2
- Burnley 9/1
Last season Arsenal had the third best home record in the league and I’m expecting them to come out on top in this game. Arsenal have a host of new highly talented players to go into the side and they also possess a top striker in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who got the winning goal against Newcastle. Aubameyang was joint top scorer in the league last season and he should be at the head of the attack again on Saturday. Aubameyang is 14/5 (Betway) to score first in this match and I think that’s a good angle for a player who will lead the line for most of the match.
Burnley will come with a game plan to frustrate Arsenal and most likely they’ll play on the counterattack. Last season Arsenal weren’t prolific in front of the goal in the first half of matches scoring 14 home goals in the first half. They were much improved in the second half of home matches scoring 28 goals with 14 of them coming in the final 15 minutes. I like the Half time/Full time market were a Draw at Half Time and Arsenal to win at Full time this is priced at 18/5 (BetVictor)
Overall, I think this game will be a hotly contested one, but I think the Gunners will have too much quality for Burnley come the end of 90 minutes.
