Surprisingly the first leg of this one ended goalless and Chelsea couldn’t get past an Arsenal defence that has conceded freely on the road against the big clubs. It’s in the balance though and the bookies make Chelsea slight 3/4 favourites to qualify.
Both these sides impressed at the weekend, scoring 4 a piece. Chelsea were exhilarating going forward with Hazard, Batshauyi and Willian linked up beautifully for the second goal. Brighton gave it a good go in that game and did exploit a few Chelsea weaknesses without scoring. They looked more potent without Alvaro Morata who is very low on confidence, the search for an alternative striker to the Spaniard continues with the likes of Ashley Barnes and Peter Crouch being mentioned.
Arsenal hammered in 4 goals in 20 minutes against Crystal Palace on Saturday, they are the games that Arsenal revel in, at home to any side outside the top 6. Alexis Sanchez has finally departed in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, it will be exciting to see what the Armenian can produce in an attack focused and free flowing team similar to what he was part of at Borrusia Dortmund. He is Cup-tied so won’t be involved on Wednesday night.
Arsene Wenger has said this game will be more open than the first leg but with so much at stake it could well be another tight affair and go the distance.
Arsenal are without strikers Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud leaving them light of options up front. Nacho Monreal and Aaron Ramsey could play a part for the hosts.
Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas will sit this one out with back and Hamstring problems respectively. Defenders Gary Cahill, Andreas Christensen, midfielder Danny Drinkwater and keeper Thibaut Courtois are back fit for the blues.

- Draw – 27/11
- Chelsea – 17/10
Potential Arsenal Starting XI: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Xhaka, Wilshere, Ozil, Iwobi, Maitland-Niles, Lacazette.
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Courtois, Moses, Christensen, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Kante, Bakayoko, Hazard, Batshauyi, Willian.
Arsene Wenger recently has a good record against Chelsea losing very few times, Chelsea do have a tough defence though and have a lot of clean sheets lately. This fixture usually ends all square and it could well be another equal encounter. The draw is the biggest price of the three in the 1X2 market and that looks the most attractive angle. The last two meetings have seen the overs on the corners land and one goal could open this right up so there’s scope to go again on that front.
