Arsenal v Norwich League Cup Betting Preview
Venue: Emirates Stadium
As the League Cup begins to reach its latter stages, Arsenal host Norwich. Despite looking vulnerable at times this campaign, The Gunners have won all six of their home matches, winning three of their last four at The Emirates to nil. They’re likely to be much changed this Tuesday, but that’s been the case in the Europa League this season too and they’re three wins from three in Europe. The likes of Jack Wilshere, Alexander Iwobi, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud are set to get a run out, although Wenger has little scope to ring the changes at the back.
Norwich started life under Daniel Farke poorly but they looked to have turned a corner. The Canaries are nine games unbeaten and have kept six clean sheets in that period. The promising creative talent James Maddison has earned plaudits for his recent performances and has three goals in his last four games. Since their relegation from the Premier League two campaigns ago, Norwich have undergone a massive overhaul, having accumulated players who weren’t able to adjust to life in The Championship.
In the previous round, Arsenal beat League One’s Doncaster by a goal to nil while Norwich dispatched of Brentford at Carrow Road after beating Charlton prior to that. Farke has fielded a strong side in both previous rounds, so we can expect the same here.
Arsenal should have too much but Norwich will be no rollovers. They’ve shown their defensive prowess in recent weeks and eight of their last nine matches have had Under 3.5 goals. We can back the same to happen here at a generous odds-against price. Norwich with a +2 start on the Asian Handicap sees a winner paid if The Canaries win, draw or lose by a single goal, while our stake is void if Arsenal win by a two-goal margin.
Arsenal are without David Ospina, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers and Welbeck.
Steven Naismith and Alex Pritchard are out. Christoph Zimmermann and Nelson Oliveira are doubts for Norwich. Hanley is cup tied. Russell Martin is available after injury.
Potential Arsenal Starting XI:
Macey; Holding, Koscielny, Kolasinac; Nelson, Coquelin, Wilshere Maitland-Niles; Walcott, Iwobi; Giroud
Potential Norwich Starting XI:
Gunn; Pinto, Zimmermann, Klose, Stiepermann; Rood, Tryball; Hoolahan, Maddison, Wildschut; Oliveira
