Astana come into this game off the back of a 2-2 draw away to Dynamo Kiev in the opening round thanks to a 95th minute equaliser. Since then, Astana have won their last 3 games domestically and currently sit top of the Kazakhstan Premier League.
Alekskey Shchetkin is Astana’s top goalscorer in the league this season with 10 goals in 25 games this season despite being left out of Astana’s last squad for the Europa League.
The home side will be without Patrick Twumasi who had scored 8 goals in 16 games before leaving for Spanish outfit Alaves in the summer.
Rennes opened their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 victory at home to Jablonec but have been out of sorts of late and are winless in their last 3 games in Ligue 1.
The French side currently sit just above the relegation zone in 16th place. Clement Grenier and Ismaila Sarr are the key players for Rennes with Grenier registering 2 goals but Rennes will be without the exciting Sarr who is set to miss out through injury.

Key Stats & Facts
- Astana have scored at least 1 goal in their last 7 home games in this competition.
- Rennes have not been involved in a single draw in the Europa League in the last 12 games (3 wins and 9 losses).
- Rennes have failed to win away in Ligue 1 so far this season (1 draw, 3 losses).
- Astana 13/10
- Draw 11/5
- Rennes 13/5
Astana are flying in the league so far this season while Rennes are struggling towards the bottom and with the away side having a 5,000km trip, fatigue could come into place as well as form. For me, I can see Astana edging Rennes here. I’m going for Astana to win and over 2.5 goals.
