Barcelona v Rome Betting Preview
Venue: Nou Camp
Channel: BT Sport 3
After progressing through a tough group with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid before scraping past Shakhtar Donestk, things don’t get easier for Roma as they’ve been drawn against Barcelona.
A hamstring niggle didn’t stop Lionel Messi equalizing in Seville from the bench at the weekend, and if he’s at full pelt this Wednesday then Roma will have a task on their hands.
The five-time Balon D’Or winner has been directly involved in 38/76 (50%) of Barcelona’s La Liga goals, and 8/13 (62%) in the Champions League.
Ernesto Valverde’s side have kept clean sheets in 16 of their 22 games at the Nou Camp and are playing with extra steel and grit this season. A large part of that is down to the partnership formed by Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique behind Sergio Busquets.
Roma put three past Chelsea in each of the pair’s group meetings, and found the net in both legs of the last 16 tie with Shakhtar. On the other hand, they failed to score in both group games with Atletico.
While the 1/4 about Barcelona is of little appeal, the 21/20 for a home win to nil could possess a spot of value.
Phillipe Coutinho is ineligible. Sergio Busquets is a doubt.
Radja Nainggolan could return.
Potential Barcelona Starting XI: Ter Stegen; Roberto, Pique, Umtiti, Alba; Dembele, Paulinho, Rakitic, Iniesta; Messi; Suarez
Potential Roma Starting XI: Alisson; Florenzi, Fazio, Manolas, Kolarov; De Rossi, Pellegrini, Strootman; Under, Dzeko, Perotti
