Manchester United will be looking to finish the Champions League group stages in style when they travel south-east of Europe to take on Swiss side Basel as they seek one point to ensure qualification for the knockout rounds. Basel themselves can potentially qualify if they win, but they inevitably face a tall order with the Red Devils standing in front of them. If history were to repeat itself, then Basel will coincidentally qualify, after knocking United out of the 2012/2013 competition. Basel are level on points with CSKA, so will qualify if they are victorious and the Russian side fail to avoid defeat against Benfica.

Whatever the outcome of this match, Manchester United are destined to top the group, only needing a point to do so. Although, Basel thrashed Benfica 5-0 at home in this season’s competition – highlighting their potential on home turf. It is expected that United will get their point, so United double chance will most likely come in, but odds of 2/7 are pointless touching. Mourinho tactics are next to impossible to predict most of the time, but I’d guess they will sit back and hit the Swiss on the counter-attack away from home.
