Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt will both travel to Berlin for this weekend’s DFB Cup Final. Frankfurt will have a second shot at winning the cup after losing last year to Borussia Dortmund. Bayern will look to add yet another trophy to their cabinets after securing with ease the league and falling short once again in the Champions League. Both managers will be taking charge of their teams for the last time, with Jupp Heynckes retiring once again and with Niko Kovač set to take over from the Bayern legend.
The Eagles have enjoyed a stable season after a couple of rocky ones in recent years. Including a victorious Budesliga relegation play-off. Since being appointed manager back in March 2016, Kovač has done well to bring stability to the club. Much like his successor, Jupp Heynckes was able to steady a slowly-sinking Bayern team and managed to completely turn around their title race by snatching the top spot from Dortmund once again.
Despite their recent stability, Frankfurt have seen a dip in form during the final weeks of the season, and a very hungry Bayern side will look to finish off their season with yet another title in the bag, but the cup is always full of surprises.
Arturo Vidal and Jérôme Boateng are both out, but Manuel Neuer could make his much-awaited comeback.
Gelson Fernandes is suspended for Eintracht, with Danny Blum also a doubt.
Potential Bayern Munich Starting XI: Ulreich, Kimmich, Süle, Hummels, Alaba, Martínez, Müller, Thiago, James, Ribñery, Lewandowski.
Potential Eintracht Frankfurt Starting XI: Hrádecky, Abraham, Hasebe, Salcedo, Costa, Mascarell, Boateng, Willems, Wolfm Rebić, Jović.
