Opportunity knocks for both sides in the early kick off between Liverpool v Bournemouth on Saturday, with sights set on what’s ahead of them rather than behind.

Liverpool trail league leaders Manchester City by just 2 points while Bournemouth could move into the top six if they avoid defeat.

Liverpool continued their unbeaten start in the Premier League by coming from behind to win 3-1 against Burnley.

Bournemouth, seventh in the league, will consider that a strong start for themselves compared to previous season, but have drifted eight points off the top five after recent results.

Four defeats in their last five matches, including two against top five sides, has separated the Cherries from the European places. In fact, all of Bournemouth’s victories this season have been against teams currently in the bottom half.

Callum Wilson was on target again, however, in their last match. He helped his side to get back to winning ways, defeating Huddersfield 2-1, and also taking his tally to eight goals for the season.

Despite four defeats, that is Bournemouth’s six match in a row where they have got on the scoresheet.

The Verdict

Liverpool have been plenty consistent this season which is why I am fancying the away side in this fixture. Bournemouth, despite a promising start, have capitalised on a reasonably favourable start and haven’t fared very well against the elite in this league so I fancy Liverpool to continue their unbeaten run.

The Cherries do, however, pose a threat in attack especially with Callum Wilson having scored eight goals already. They go against an inform Liverpool defence however, which makes it difficult to back either for or against Bournemouth’s performance.
