Brazil and Croatia lock horns in Liverpool on Sunday afternoon in both nations’ penultimate preparation fixture before travelling to Russia.

The friendly should prove useful for both head coaches, with comparable nations included in their sides’ respective World Cup groups – Tite’s Brazil play Serbia and Switzerland, whilst Zlatko Dalić’s Croatia face a similar South American test against Argentina.

Since being appointed as Dunga’s successor, Brazil boss Tite has enjoyed a fruitful two year spell. Fourteen clean sheets have been chalked up under his leadership, a run which includes fifteen wins, three draws, and just one loss in nineteen fixtures. With that in mind, it is no surprise to see his side priced up as heavy favourites here.

A Brazil win is best priced at 3/5 with Marathon but can be considered too short when taking into account their opponents’ competency. Since the start of 2014, Croatia have lost just three times in eleven versus nations ranked in the current top 20 and with the likes of Luka Modrić, Mateo Kovačić, Ivan Rakitić, and Mario Mandžukić included in their squad, they have enough quality to cause an upset at Anfield.

As such, it may be worth taking an alternative angle here. Under 2.5 goals has landed in eleven out of Croatia’s last fourteen Internationals, whilst four out of Zlatko Dalić’s opening five fixtures have produced two goals or less. Considering their opponents’ offensive qualities, it is likely that Croatia will attempt to frustrate Brazil and therefore, the price of 11/13 appeals for a low scoring game.

Team News

Gabriel Jesus will captain Brazil. Tite has confirmed that Neymar will start the second half.

Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino are set to feature at Anfield.

Potential Brazil Starting XI: Allison, Danilo, Thiago Silva, Miranda, Marcelo, Casemiro, Paulinho, Fernandinho, Willian, Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus.
