Cardiff v Man City Betting Preview
Cardiff look to continue their excellent campaign by progressing in the FA Cup. Neil Warnock is a manager that has been about seemingly forever, the straight talking Yorkshireman hasn’t garnered the appreciation that he probably deserves this season, maybe that’s down to his marmite personality. The Bluebirds comfortably put a strong Mansfield side to bed in a replay in the last round, Warnock fielded a full strength team in that one and it will be interesting to see if he does that in this clash. The Welsh outfit have it all to play for in the league with aspirations of automatic promotion so this cup run could be seen as an extra game they could do without.
Man City got past Bristol City in the League Cup winning 6-3 on aggregate, they conceded in both games against the Robins. They couldn’t handle the long balls and physical approach by the championship side and Cardiff are another team that can get physical and make the game a battle, it’s a trait of Warnock sides in the past. With the Champions League return on the horizon Pep is likely to rotate he strong squad and when they’ve done that they’ve not blown teams away. I think Cardiff can play their part in this one.
Lee Peltier, Aron Gunnarson, Craig Bryson and Danny Ward all remain sidelined for the hosts. Kadeem Harris and Joe Ralls are fit however.
Kyle Walker has been declared fit for this one after a clash of heads midweek. Ben Mendy, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus are all still out.
Stats & Facts
- Cardiff have won just one of their last seven home FA Cup clashes.
- Cardiff last beat Manchester City in an FA Cup match in 1994.
- Cardiff – 10/1
- Draw – 9/2
- Man City – 3/10
It’s hard to look past this Man City side with their goal scoring possibilities but Kenneth Zohore could pose some problems for the Citizens centre halves, Zohore is a big, powerful striker and Cardiff will play to his strengths.
Man City are skinny odds but with merit, we can boost the 3/10 to 19/10 by throwing them to concede in a game that they win and that looks more attractive. It landed in both games against Championship side Bristol City and Cardiff will try and exploit the defence deficiencies that Man City have at the back.
- Manchester City to win and Both Teams to Score – 19/10 (888 sport)
