Chelsea come into this game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Manchester United where Ross Barkley popped up with a 96th minute equaliser for the blues to rescue a point.
Chelsea have been in fine form this season and enter Thursday’s Europa League tie unbeaten in all competitions this season – a total of 12 games.
Chelsea have made a positive start to this group with a 1-0 win in their first game away to PAOK followed by a 1-0 win at home to Vidi thanks to an Alvaro Morata goal. The Blues will be looking to continue their early season form.
Bate have won 6 of their last 8 games in all competitions and currently sit top of the Belarus First Division where they are 9 points clear.
However they have had a steady start in Europe this term after beating Vidi in the opening round but fell in Match-day two to PAOK 4-1.
Chelsea will be hoping Alvaro Morata can fire them to victory and pretty much secure their place in the knockout rounds. On the other hand, BATE need to avoid defeat, otherwise it will be an uphill task to find their way out of the groups.
Both teams should have fully fit squads to choose from barring any last minute injuries.
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Kepa, Zappacosta, Cahill, Christensen, Emerson, Kovacic, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek, Pedro, Morata, Willian
Potential Bate Starting XI: Scherbitsky, Rios, Polyakov, Filipenko, Volodko, Bala, Yablonski, Dragun, Ivanic, Tuominen, Stasevich
Head To Head
- This is the first meeting between the two sides.
Key Stats and Facts
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in each of Bate’s last 5 games.
- Chelsea are unbeaten at home in their last 10 European matches (W7, L3).
- Bate have lost all 8 away games in European competition against top seeded opponents.
- Chelsea 13/89 (Marathon Bet)
- Draw 8/1 (BetVictor)
- Bate 33/1 (BetVictor)
For how good Bate are in their respective league, they are nowhere near replicating that in their European form.
Chelsea have been in great form this season and I can’t see them struggling to get past BATE here. I’m backing Alvaro Morata will get on the scoresheet and Chelsea to come out comfortable winners.
