Chelsea ran away 2-1 victors at St James’ Park last Sunday to maintain their 100% record. The Blues have won nine points from nine and look to have made a seamless transition into Maurizio Sarri’s free-flowing style
That being said, Chelsea have looked a tad suspect defensively, and so Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth will fancy their chances of causing a problem or two. The Cherries did win 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last season.
Bournemouth only know one way to play. They’ll be brave and attempt to play on the front-foot. It’s been their style since Howe took charge, and it won’t change any time soon.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see their games tend to be goal-friendly. They’ve scored two or more goals in each of their three league games so far this season.
Last season 12 of Bournemouth’s 19 away Premier League games saw Over 2.5 goals. The same feat has occurred in all of Chelsea’s matches so far this season. A repeat is available at just 4/9.
Bournemouth conceded in the first-half in 10 of 19 away games last campaign. Given Chelsea scored twice inside the opening 20-minutes in their opening home match, it’s possible we see some early goals between these two forward-thinking sides.
Over 1.5 goals is available at 6/5.
Pedro has scored twice in three games so far this season after enjoying a fruitful pre-season. He’s playing in a role that saw Dries Mertens thrive at Napoli and there’s mileage in the 6/1 about the Spaniard to open the scoring.
Cesc Fabregas remains a doubt for Chelsea.
Bournemouth will be without attacking-trio Junior Stanislas, Marc Pugh and Lys Mousset. Adam Smith is supended.
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pedro, Hazard; Morata
Potential Bournemouth Starting XI: Begovic; Francis, Cook, Ake, Daniels; Brooks, Lerma, Surman, Fraser; King; Wilson
Head To Head
- Bournemouth won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge last season.
Key Stats & Facts
- All three of Chelsea’s games this season have seen Over 2.5 goals.
- 13 of Bournemouth’s last 20 Premier League away games have seen Over 2.5 goals.
- Chelsea 3/10
- Draw 9/2
- Bournemouth 10/1
As we’ve established, goals are likely between these two attacking sides. I’m happy to chance that a couple of those come inside the opening 45. Over 1.5 first-half goals is 6/5. Pedro looks a danger running in behind and can be backed at 6/1 to open the scoring.
