Chelsea v Norwich Betting Preview
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Watch: BBC One
After playing out a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road, Chelsea host Norwich at Stamford Bridge this Wednesday.
Chelsea reached the final of the competition last season and will be hoping to go one better this time around. Despite this, Antonio Conte will give some fringe players a run out. It’s Willian who really catches the eye on this occasion. The Brazilian is 2/1 to score anytime and there seems to be a touch of value about this. He scored four goals in six appearances in last seasons’ FA Cup and has bagged two in three Carabao Cup games this campaign. More interestingly, he scored in both FA Cup home ties v lower ranked opposition last season, while both his League Cup goals this season came at Stamford Bridge. Not much needs to be said about his free-kick taking ability, while in Eden Hazard’s absence he will likely be on penalties too.
The departure of Alex Pritchard has left a void in Norwich’s forward line. The midfielder left for Huddersfield last week and so there will be a heavy reliance by the Canaries on midfielder James Maddison. Spurs prodigy Marcus Edwards was brought in during the week but he is ineligible due to joining during the tie.
Norwich won’t be rollovers. They travelled to the Emirates in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, taking the match to extra time, and have kept four clean sheets in their last five games.
Chelsea will be without Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas. Ross Barkley remains outs.
Daniel Farke is without Louis Thompson, Steven Naismith and Matthew Jarvis this Wednesday.
Potential Chelsea Starting XI: Caballero; Ampadu, Luiz, Rudiger; Zappacosta, Drinkwater, Bakayoko, Kenedy; Willian, Pedro; Batshuayi
