Game week 3 see’s the 2 undefeated teams from group C clash as Chelsea host Roma on Wednesday. Chelsea put on a stunning display to come from behind and beat Atletico Madrid away from home in their last encounter, and the victory gave Antonio Conte’s men 2 wins from 2 so far in the ‘group of death’

Roma picked up their first win in this years group stages away at Qarabag in the last round of games, and a draw at home to Atletico before that see’s them sit on 4 points, 2 behind Chelsea. In terms of league starts, its not been ideal for Roma, who find themselves 9 points of the pace of league leaders Napoli, with Inter, Lazio, & Juventus all in front of them as well.

Chelsea are coming off a poor league defeat as well, as Crystal Palace finally got on the score sheet and in the win column this campaign. 2 defeats in their last 2 league games has seen Chelsea slump 5th, where, just like Roma, they are 9 points of the league leaders. Conte will be expecting a reaction from his players here, as will the fans who will be bitterly disappointed with the result to Palace.

This is one of the ties of the round, and a win for Chelsea would all but secure qualification in to the next round, and with the group they were dealt, that would be a fantastic result for the London club. Conte’s big decision is deciding who leads the line for his team, as it looks like key man Alvaro Morata may be back for the fixture, however Conte may not want to risk playing the Spaniard straight away.

Team News

  • Alvaro Morata could be back in the fold after his hamstring injury to Manchester City last month. N’Golo Kante & Victor Moses are both missing through injury.
  • Roma are without Stephan El Shaarawy & Kostas Manolas, while Kevin Strootman is a doubt.

Chelsea Potential Starting XI – Courtois; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill; Zappacosta, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Alonso; Pedro, Hazard; Morata

Roma Potential Starting XI – Allison; Peres, Fazio, Jesus, Kolarov; Nainggolan, Rossi, Strootman; Florenzi, Dzeko, Perotti
