Crystal Palace v Liverpool Betting Preview
Venue: Selhurst Park
Channel: Sky Sports
The Premier League returns this weekend and the lunch-time kick off this Saturday is between Crystal Palace and Liverpool. Palace still sit dangerously in 16th place, just two points ahead of Southampton in 18th, whilst Liverpool will look to continue their impressive season ahead of a crucial month for them.
Jurgen Klopp’s men travel to a stadium that holds some unwanted memories for the Reds, the 3-3 back in the 13/14 season the one that stands out for most. However, in recent years, this fixture has been a good one for the away side. Liverpool have won three of the last four Premier League games against Palace, including the last two at Selhurst Park.
This is usually a game packed full of goals, with eight of the last nine in the league seeing over 2.5 goals and BTTS. Liverpool have the best away record in the league and are the second-best attacking team in the division behind City. Mo Salah has scored 10 goals in his last seven Premier League games and managed four against Watford last time out.
Sadio Mane looks to be the value bet here, however, given that Salah is at 4/7 with most bookmakers. Mane is at 13/8 best price and looks great value considering he has scored in four of his last six games against Palace and has five goals in his last six games as well.
At 15/2 Palace do represent some value but this, on paper at least, looks one sided. Palace will hope Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend both feature as they are to players who cause most teams problems and will fancy their chances against this Liverpool defence. Liverpool’s front three would definitely need an off day for Palace to get anything here.
Mamadou Sakho, Wilfred Zaha and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all expected to start after various injury concerns, whilst Jeffrey Schlupp is a doubt.
Liverpool are confident Andrew Robertson will be fit to start after suffering a slight knock in mid-week on International Duty. Joe Gomez is out for the next few games after also suffering an injury whilst playing for England. Emre Can is also a doubt for the game.
Potential Crystal Palace Starting XI: Hennessey; Wan-Bissaka, Tomkins, Sakho, Aanholt; Townsend, Milivojevic, Cabaye, Loftus-Cheek; Benteke, Zaha
Potential Liverpool Starting XI: Karius; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
