These two local rivals lock horns once more on what promises to be a entertaining and feisty affair.
Frank Lampard has had a decent start to management at Derby, his side currently occupy a play off place but should they lose here Forest will leap frog them. It's going forward where the Rams excel, it's no surprising when you look at their strong roster of forward thinking players. Lamps has used his contacts to bring in Mason Mount and Harry Wilson both of whom have set the league alight, he will be hoping that their parent clubs don't recall them come January.
The home side are the even-money favourite here but it's not going to be an easy task against the Tricky Trees. Forest are unbeaten in their last 7 games on the road, they've also scored 2 or more goals in 5 of their last 6 away games.
Aitor Karanka is of the Jose Mourinho management school, in his previous jobs he's been risk-averse and adopted a more pragmatic approach. However, this season that seems to be thrown out of the window; it's never a surprise to see the Trent club involved in high scoring encounters.
Joe Lolley has been the standout player for them this season. The winger who made his name at Kidderminster has dazzled with his skills, close control and long range shots. WhoScored.com have him as the highest rated player out of both sides this season.
Derby remain without Curtis Davies, Ikechi Anya, Craig Forsyth and Mason Bennett. Joe Lesley could return though.
Forest cannot call upon Sam Byram, Diego Goncalves, Jack Robinson and Panagiotis Tachtsidis.
Potential Derby Starting XI: Carson, Bogle, Keogh, Tomori, Malone, Huddlestone, Bryson, Lawrence, Mount, Wilson, Marriott.
Potential Nottingham Forest XI: Pantillimon, Darikwa, Hefele, Dawson, Osborn, Colback, Guediora, Dias, Carvalho, Lolley, Grabban.
Key Stats & Facts
- Derby have lost just 1 of their last 9 home games.
- Forest are unbeaten in their last 7 away games.
- Aitor Karanka is unbeaten in his last 6 games against Derby.
- Derby – 21/20
- Draw – 13/5
- Nottingham Forest – 3/1
There's stats going for both sides here, Derby are good at home and Forest strong away. That makes me look at the 13/5 on the draw as the first port of call here.
I'm also happy to have a dabble on a SkyBet price boost. Harry Wilson To Score outside the box has been boosted from 13/2 to 8/1 and that appeals. He's such a danger from free kicks, the majority of his goals come from outside the area too.
