England v Germany Betting Preview
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Channel: ITV 1
This games lies as a another strong test for the Three Lions against a top international team, a team they are going to have to prepare themselves against if they are to reach the latter stages of next summer’s world cup. The Germans travel to London on the back of 15 wins from their last 18, unbeaten in their last 19 – a loss to France in July. In recent years, the two teams have both had the better of each other: Germany’s Lukas Podolski saw them to a slender 1-0 win last time out, with the game before seeing a historic England comeback in Germany winning 3-2 from 2-0 behind.
Southgate’s youthful side will be full of confidence going into this one with pretty much no pressure with the World Cup holders expected to win here – perhaps showing that Germany to win this one at 6/4 is decent value. Having said that, England haven’t lost at home since a 2-1 loss to Netherlands in March 2016. This is a tough game to call however backing England here would be incredibly risky, our home nation are inconsistent at the best of times so staying away from backing them would be my best bet! Germany have scored over 1.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 so backing this at 11/8 is tremendous value.
Tottenham trio Kane, Winks and Alli have pulled out of the England squad with injuries. Henderson has also left the camp, meaning Loftus Cheek is destined for his debut. Cahill is a doubt.
Potential England Starting XI: Hart, Walker, Stones, Jones, Bertrand, Dier, Cork, Sterling, Loftus-Cheek, Rashford, Vardy
Potential Germany Starting XI: Leno, Rudiger, Mustafi, Kimmich, Sule, Can, Brandt, Sane, Stindl, Muller, Werner
