Real Madrid seem to be back on form, achieving some impressive and important points in the last couple of weeks. The same can’t be said for Quique Sánchez Flores’ team. The ex-Watford manager has managed to draw four times in a row, and bear in mind this is the same team that handed Barcelona their first defeat of the season. Despite this unusual run, Espanyol sit 10 points clear of the relegation zone, whilst Real Madrid are still playing cat & mouse with Atleti for 2nd place. As a result, this match could be an interesting one due to the mutual hate of Barcelona.
This isn’t a suggestion that Espanyol could lie down to Los Blancos, but given the interests of both clubs and the lack of an objective from Espanyol, Zidane’s men shouldn’t face much of a challenge against a team whose home form has been inconsistent, to say the least.
Espanyol’s squad is fully fit, so no problems for; Sergio Ramos is back from suspension, but Real Madrid are still without Marcelo, Kroos and Modric- all of which are key players.
Potential Espanyol Starting XI: Pau López, Sánchez, Duarte, López, Martín, Sánchez, Granero, Baptistão, Darder, Piatti, Moreno.
Potential Real Madrid Starting XI: Navas, Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Hernández, Isco, Kovacic, Casemiro, Asensio, Benzema, Ronaldo.
