After taking over a troubled Everton side, Sam Allardyce has done his usual work and the Toffees are now sitting in the top half of the table. With a Friday evening encounter with Merseyside rivals Liverpool followed by a trip away to Tottenham, Everton face a tricky few days.
They’re now three games without a win and have been criticised for their lack of attacking intent, scoring just one goal across those three matches. However, against both Liverpool and Chelsea under Allardyce, Everton have been able to come away with draws. His pragmatic and organised style means his sides are notoriously tough to beat.
Despite a stylish start to the season, Jose Mourinho’s United side find themselves in the midst of a mini-rut. They’ve now drawn three consecutive league games and will be without both Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimobvic on Saturday evening.
Five of Everton’s seven league games under Allardyce have seen Under 2.5 goals. United are without both their out-and-out strikers. Marcus Rashford is likely to lead the line, however given Sam Allardyce’s likely approach, he’ll have little space to run into. Under 2.5 goals looks slightly on the short side at 7/10 but could be worth chancing with all things considered.
Everton are still without long-term absentees Martin Stekelenburg, Ramiro Funes-Mori, Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley. Wayne Rooney should return.
United come into this game hit by injury. Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Matteo Darmian, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku are all out. Ashley Young is subject to a three-match ban for violent conduct.
Potential Everton Starting XI: Pickford; Kenny, Keane, Williams, Martina; Schneiderlin, Gueye, Rooney; Bolasie, Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson
Potential Man Utd Starting XI: De Gea; Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Blind; Herrera, Matic; Lingard, Pogba, Martial; Rashford
