Fleetwood v Walsall Betting Preview, Odds & Tips
- Date: 17/11/18
- Time: 12:00pm

Leagues 1 and 2 take centre stage this weekend with it being the international break. Saturday lunchtime pits two teams in indifferent form together on the Fylde coast.
Visitors Walsall started the season on fire but that’s been extinguished in recent weeks. The Saddlers went off as one of the favourites for the drop but they’ve defied expectations to be in a reasonable position thus far.
Performance data for the club off the M6 has dropped off and failed to recover for a good while now, they present chances to their opposition. However, going forward they have greater threats than last season with ex-non-league duo Andy Cook and Morgan Ferrier leading the line.
Fleetwood have had a standard start to the campaign but I feel there’s more to come from the Cod Army. Their attacking arsenal is up their with the best of them, on paper at least.
Joey Barton is in his infancy as a manager and he’s got a decent league 1 squad to play with. Ashley Hunter, Ched Evans, Conor McCaleny, Wes Burns and Paddy Madden make for a mean forward line. They can hurt this porous Walsall defence.
Fleetwood have a fully fit squad available.
Walsall are without Joe Edwards, Kory Roberts and Adam Chambers.
Potential Fleetwood Starting XI: Cairns, Coyle, Eastham, Morgan, Husband, Holt, Wallace, Marney, Burns, Hunter, Evans.
Potential Walsall Starting XI: Roberts, Devin, Guthrie, Martin, Leahy, Morris, Osbourne, Dobson, Kinsella, Ferrier, Cook.
Key Stats & Facts
- Fleetwood have won their last two home games on the bounce.
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in the last 4 Fleetwood games in all competitions.
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in 5 of Walsall’s last 6 games.
- Fleetwood – 23/20
- Draw – 5/2
- Walsall – 11/4
I’d favour the home side here but the quotes on offer don’t make massive appeal. Instead I’m happy to take a goals-based angle with over 2.5 goals being chalked up at 117/100 with MarathonBet. The recent stats make this a good play and I expected a shorter price than that available.
I’m also going to have a smaller play on Fleetwood’s Ashley Hunter to score anytime at a bulbous 9/2 with Betfair. Given the fact he’s as short as 5/2 elsewhere it looked a value price. Hunter plays as one of the front three and he’s impressed me every time I’ve seen him play. He can score all types of goals and the odds offered are big enough to back.
