- Venue: Craven Cottage
With the amount of money Fulham spent this summer, the club, board and certainly their fans would have been hoping for a better league position at this point in the campaign. Nonetheless, it’s still early on and the west Londoners still have time to turn it around.
However, regarding current form, it’s been difficult times for the Cottagers. There previous results include: a 4-2 defeat to Cardiff, a 5-1 defeat to Arsenal and a similar 3-0 result at the hands of Everton. Furthermore, Fulham have conceded 12 goals in their past three games whilst only finding the back of the net three times.
One of the Cottagers greatest downfalls is there ability in front of goal. In all competitions this season, and friendlies, Fulham have been unable to convert on five separate occasions. Considering Bournemouth are in unbelievable form, Fulham could extend this record to six this weekend.
Regarding Bournemouth, Eddie Howe has worked his magic in the 2018/19 season, sitting in 6th with 17 points so far. Prior to their goal-less draw against Southampton, the Cherries were undefeated in three and scored six goals in the process – many thanks to the heroics of Callum Wilson and Joshua King.
Fulham midfield maestro, Tom Cairney, will be unavailable for the Cottagers this weekend alongside full-back Joe Bryan. On the other hand, the favourites, Bournemouth, enter this fixture with a fully fit squad at their disposal.
Potential Fulham Starting XI: Bettinelli; Chambers, Odoi, Ream, Le Marchland; Johansen, McDonald, Seri; Schurrle, Mitrovic, Sessegnon
Potential Bournemouth Starting XI: Begovic; Francis, Cook, Ake, Smith; Brooks, Lerma, Cook, Fraser; King, Wilson
Head To Head
The last time these two sides met was during Bournemouth’s stint in the Championship back in 2015. Within this result, the Cherries defeated the Cottagers comfortably 5-1. In addition to this, this will be the first time that these two teams meet in the top flight.
Key Stats & Facts
- Fulham haven’t defeated Bournemouth since 1994.
- Despite their league position, Fulham have only won at home within the Premier League.
- Fulham – 19/10
- Draw – 5/2
- Bournemouth – 13/10
Based upon previous results and current form, I believe that Bournemouth will be leaving Craven Cottage with the three points. Their goal-scoring ability will be simply too much for the newly-promoted side and, to be honest, I can’t see Fulham scoring past Begovic at any point during this Premier League clash.
