Hull City v Sheffield United Championship Betting Preview
Venue: KCOM Stadium
Hull City play host to Sheffield United on Friday night with both sides in need of the points for different reasons.
Hull are in a real battle for survival, sitting just outside the relegation places on goal difference, while Sheffield United are looking upwards aiming to win promotion to the Premier League.
Both of these sides play their second Championship fixture in three days after Hull lost 3-1 to Middlesbrough on Tuesday, while Sheffield United overcame Queens Park Rangers 2-1 at Bramall Lane.
Hull are facing the prospect of back-to-back relegations after another difficult season and they have won just two of their last 19 Championship games.
Sheffield United are back to form following a sticky patch and they have won their last two Championship outings to boost their play-off ambitions and a win on Friday night will lift them into sixth place for 24 hours at least.
Sheffield United thumped Hull 4-1 at Bramall Lane earlier this season, with Leon Clarke grabbing all four goals and they will be aiming to complete a league double over the Tigers and pile the misery on former Blades boss Nigel Adkins on Friday night.
Hull welcome back Swedish midfielder Sebastian Larrson from suspension following his two-game ban and he is expected to go straight back into Nigel Adkins’ starting XI.
Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson will miss out again after picking up a shoulder injury in last week’s FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.
Markus Henriksen (ankle), Ondrej Mazuch (hamstring), Moses Odubajo and James Weir (both knee) all remain sidelined for the home side.
Long-term injury victim Abel Hernandez is back to fitness, but he is still a way off returning to first-team action.
Sheffield United are able to call upon goalkeeper Simon Moore and midfielder John Fleck after suspension and both men are set to return to the starting XI with Jamal Blackman and John Lundstram expected to drop down to the substitues bench.
Blades boss Chris Wilder hopes James Wilson, Ricky Holmes and David Brooks will shake off knocks to be available, but all three are likely to have to content themselves with a place on the bench.
Potential Hull Starting XI: Hull 3-5-3 formation: McGregor, Hector, Dawson, MacDonald, Tomori, Evandro, Toral, Larsson, Aina, Keane, Campbell
Potential Sheffield United Starting XI: Sheffield United 3-5-2 formation: Blackman, Basham, Stearman, O’Connell, Baldock, Stevens, Evans, Fleck, Duffy, Clarke, Sharp.
