Two of snooker’s most attacking players cross swords in tomorrow morning’s quarter final , having only played the week before last in the English Open with Judd Trump winning 4-2 after losing the opening two frames in a scrappy contest .
Jack Lisowski had a bright start to the current season nearly winning the Riga Masters and is on the brink of a top 16 ranking which importantly will give him his first start in the prestigious Masters at the beginning of 2019. In contrast, Judd Trump has been way below par until these last few weeks where he has started grinding some solid (if unspectacular) victories against dangerous opponents. Little by little you can see his confidence returning and in truth it will be tested tomorrow given Jack Lisowski beat Martin Gould today with back to back centuries 6-5.
Key Stats & Facts
- Head 2 head – Trump 5-4 Lisowski
- World Ranking – Trump – 5 / Lisowski – 17
- Trump – 1.57 (bet365)
- Lisowski – 2.68 (MarathonBet)
After their respective seasons thus far, this match takes on massive importance for both players given they are not at full force but getting close we can expect this match to be quick, entertaining and to a high standard.
For all the reasons above, I struggle to see no way this match cannot go at least 9 frames and with his experience of longer matches at this stage of tournaments Trump may shade a win.
However, with Jack Lisowski being “the new kid on the block”, my recommended bet would be over total frames where the Bet365 Asian total of 9.25 appeals.
