Juventus v Napoli Betting Preview
Venue: Allianz Stadium
Channel: BT Sport 1
This Serie A fixture has the feeling of a cup final, with both sides needing to win to take a huge step towards the title.
Juventus’ draw mid-week against Crotone and Napoli’s win over Udinese means that the gap between the two sides is just four points and with Juventus still to play Inter and Roma in the coming weeks, a win here for Napoli would put them in a very good position.
Juventus still hold the advantage over Napoli being four points in front of them but with those difficult games coming up, it is important they do not get beaten this evening. Juve’s league form has been frighteningly good bar two draws in the last five games, as they are unbeaten in their last 20 league games, winning 17 of those and drawing three. They have dropped points at home just twice all season and are on a current seven match winning run at the Allianz Stadium, conceding just once.
Napoli have also been in good form of late, winning 11 of their last 15 league matches and have not lost an away game all season. They have drawn their last three away games however and will need to improve that form if they are to pick up a much-needed win at a stadium where very, very few come away victorious. Two of those three draws have been 0-0 and the other a 1-1 and they will need to score more than one goal here if they are to win, given that Juventus have failed to score just once at home all season.
Gonzalo Higuain will again be in the spotlight as he faces his old side and he scored the only goal in the reverse fixture back in January. He is amongst a few strikers who are having great seasons, a long side Napoli’s front three of Lorenzo Insigne, Dries Mertens and Jose Callejon. Paulo Dybala to score anytime at 37/19 is the best value, however, as he has scored in seven of his last seven league games and Napoli’s front three have contributed just two goals in their last five league games.
Juventus and Napoli both have fully fit squads to choose from, other than Mattia De Sciglio and Fazio Ghoulam are out for Juventus and Napoli respectively.
Kalidou Koulibaly will return to the Napoli back line after serving his suspension midweek, whilst Douglas Costa could be selected ahead of Paulo Dybala for Juventus.
Potential Juventus Starting XI: Buffon; Lichsteiner, Benatia, Chiellini, Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi; Costa, Higuain, Mandzukic
Potential Napoli Starting XI: Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Rui; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
