Yet another mammoth champions league tie as past winners Liverpool welcome European juggernauts Bayern Munich to Merseyside.
Liverpool got to the final last season but their main focus could be on going for the premier league title. However they'll fancy their chances to compete on both fronts and Mo Salah and Sadio Mane should be licking their lips at the fact they're coming up against an ageing Bayern defence.
Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng used to be one of the top centre half partnerships but both have simultaneously regressed over the last two years. Their lack of pace has seen them cock up a few times for their club and country. Their deficiencies were particularly highlighted at the World Cup.
Bayern also trail Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga, they'll be hoping for a strong run in this competition to spare any domestic blushes.
Virgil Van Dijk is suspended for the hosts. Dejan Lovren, Xherdan Shaqiri And Roberto Firmino are doubts.
Arjen Robben and Corentin Tolliso are out for the visitors with injuries, Thomas Muller is suspended.
Potential Liverpool XI: Allison, Milner, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita, Salah, Mane, Firmino.
Potential Bayern XI: Neuer, Kimmich, Sule Hummels, Alaba, Thiago, Goretzka, Rafinha, Coman, Gnabry, Lewandowski.
Key Stats & Facts
- Jurgen Klopp has lost more games to Bayern than anyone else.
- Bayern have only won 1 of their last 7 games vs Liverpool in the UCL
- Liverpool are unbeaten in 19 consecutive games at home in Europe
- Liverpool – 6/5

Liverpool will be roared on by a home crowd who are bang up for it on these European nights. The reds like it on their own patch too, they have an excellent record at Anfield.
Having said that, Bayern pose a threat going forward with Kingsley Coman and Robert Lewandowski and with Joe Gomez, Van Dijk and Dejan Lovren, out it leaves the hosts light at the back.
Liverpool to win and BTTS is available to back at 11/4 with Bet365 and that looks a nice angle in.
