Goal scoring has been a constant two sides as Liverpool host Manchester City.
Manchester City currently lead the Premier League above second placed Liverpool but with the same amount of points and goals conceded for both sides, it’s only goals scored that proves the difference.
The home side failed to score in a match for the first time this season in a 1-0 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.
Liverpool scored three against French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain while recording goals against Chelsea in two meetings, a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 victory, as well another three against Southampton, and still fall short of their Sunday opponents’s fire rate.
City scored five against Cardiff in recent weeks and three against Fulham, both times without reply. Within the past week they’ve scored 2 against both Hoffenheim and Brighton in a 2-1 victory and 2-0 victory, respectively.
Liverpool: Naby Keita remains doubtful after picking up an injury, midweek, against Napoli.
Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster are all unavilable due to injury.
Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne is expected to return to the Manchester City squad for the first time this season, along with the return of Benjamin Mendy.
Febian Delph and Ilkay Gundogan are both absent due to injury.
Potential Liverpool starting XI: Allison, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah
Potential Manchester City starting XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Laporte, B.Silva, Fernandinho, D. Silva, Sterling, G. Jesus, Sane

Sports include football, boxing and cricket. As a 5-year-old supporting Doncaster Rovers, my Saturdays consisted of leaning up against a cold brick wall away at teams like Forest Green Rovers. I never expected then to be sat three tiers high at Wembley watching James Hayter score the only goal in the League One play-off final against Leeds to put pub team Donny into the second tier of English football. Journalism is just my plan to get to the good seats.
