Progress in Group E hinges on the two matches that’ll be played. Liverpool need but a point to go through, and losing would almost certainly mean they’d finish 3rd. However, Spartak have to beat the Reds no matter what, seeing as they trail both Liverpool and Sevilla by 3 points.
Boasting an unbeaten 9-game run & counting on their great home support, Liverpool seem to have qualification in the bag. Despite this, Spartak lost their last game to Sevilla but smashed them 5-1 at home, so whatever the odds may say, the Russian side are capable of sinking Liverpool’s ship with players such as Quincy Promes or Luiz Adriano. That being said, Mo Salah has been in sensational form as of late and as long as Jürgen Klopp can have his defence play relatively well (and, for example, not bottle a three goal lead), they shouldn’t really face many problems.
Keeping the Merseyside derby in mind, Klopp will surely rest a few key players going into the weekend, paving the way for some players, such as Lallana or Oxlade-Chamberlain, to get some minutes. Joel Matip and Nathaniel will both miss out for the Reds, while Dmitri Kombarov will also be missing.
Potential Liverpool Starting XI:Karius, Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Milner, Coutinho, Salah, Sturridge, Mané.
Potential Spartak Starting XI: Selikhov, Eshchenko, Tasci, Kutepov, Jikia, Fernando, Glushakov, Samedov, Popov, Promes, Luiz Adriano.
