Considering their triumph in the EFL Cup last time around, Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be looking to continue their success with Fulham being the first hurdle.
Manchester City are yet to taste defeat this season but it’s expected that Guardiola will be rotating the side for this Thursday night fixture. Regarding current form, the Citizens have scored 21 goals in their last eight games and found the back of the net 13 times in their last five games at the Etihad. To say that Bettinelli will be busy on Thursday evening is an understatement.
On the other hand, Fulham are fighting a relegation battle within the Premier League, recording just five points from ten games. In addition to this, their last top-flight victory came against Burnley at the tail end of August. But, interestingly, a large proportion of Fulham’s ‘success’ this season has come in the Carabao Cup.
Prior to this fixture, the Cottagers defeated both Exeter City and Millwall to get to this stage in the tournament, however, they are certainly considered to be the underdogs for this fixture.
Kevin McDonald will be serving his one-match suspension following his dismissal at Bournemouth last weekend. However, Fulham will be posting a fairly strong squad for this fixture. On the other hand, a range of changes will be expected from Manchester City.
Potential Manchester City Starting XI: Bravo; Otamendi, Kompany, Stones; Danilo, Foden, Gundogan, Zinchenko; Mahrez, Jesus, Diaz
Potential Fulham Starting XI: Bettinelli; Chambers, Odoi, Ream, Le Marchland; Johansen, McDonald, Seri; Schurrle, Mitrovic, Sessegnon
Head To Head
- Manchester City and Fulham have already met this season in a game where the Citizen’s left the Etihad victorious, 3-0 specifically. Prior to this fixture, City and the Cottagers hadn’t played against each other for four years and the underdogs haven’t defeated the Manchester side since 2009.
Key Stats & Facts
- In their last six meetings, Manchester City have scored 19 goals.
- In their last six meetings, Manchester City have kept four clean sheets.
- Manchester City – 1/12
- Draw – 10/1
- Fulham – 22/1
Manchester City are going to win this fixture, but the question is – by how much? Based upon previous meetings and City’s current form, a 4-0 victory seems likely.
