Huddersfield make the short trip to Manchester on Sunday afternoon, where they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Champions enter the game in excellent form following a couple of 2-0 victories over Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks. Despite these comfortable victories, their performances remain shy of their best and there's certainly a sense they have a number of gears still to move into. The injury to star man Kevin De Bruyne may hinder their ability to do that though with the midfielder ruled out for up to three months after picking up an injury in training. City should be boosted by the return of David Silva though, who could slot in alongside Fernandinho and the inform Bernardo Silva in the middle of the park. An injury to a player of De Bruyne's calibre is never ideal, though City's strength in depth is set to prove more important than ever following the early closure of the transfer window. Their only notable summer recruit Riyad Mahrez is set to make his home debut on Sunday and I've got a feeling it could be the day he opens his City account. It's likely that Huddersfield will sit and contain City, inviting pressure and the likes of Mahrez to have the opportunity to unleash shots on goal.
That being said, Huddersfield's game plan of nullifying City last season worked as they grabbed a 0-0 draw at the Etihad in May. That point was vital in Huddersfield securing their Premier League status for another season, though City had already won the league and there was certainly a carnival atmosphere in the air on their coronation day. Last weekend's display at home to Chelsea was something of a whimper from the Terirers as they fell to a 3-0 defeat against Maurizio Sarri's men. The John Smith's stadium was a difficult place to visit on the whole last season, so Wagner's frustration at their lack of fight and desire against Chelsea was understandable. Huddersfield failed to make any signings in the summer that could drastically improve their squad and are many people's tip for relegation, they'll need to rediscover that same determination and resilience they showed in the majority of their games last season if they are to survive again.
Danilo and Mangala remain sidelined, Kevin De Bruyne is also set for a 3 month spell on the sidelines. David Silva should return.
Elias Kachunga and Daniel Williams are both unavailable for David Wagner.
Man City Potential Starting XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy, Fernandinho, D Silva, B Silva, Mahrez, Sane, Aguero
Huddersfield Potential Starting XI: Lossl, Hadergjonaj, Schindler, Zanka, Kongolo, Mooy, Hogg, Van La Parra, Pritchard, Diakhaby, Mounie

I think Huddersfield will adopt a similar game plan as they did here last season, shut up shop and hope for something on the break. While I think this could frustrate City in parts, the Champions will undoubtedly have too much class for this to be a problem. For this reason I can't see City running riot, but a comfortable 2 or 3-0 home win instead.
