Man City v Man Utd Betting Preview
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester)
Channel: BT Sport One
Manchester United make the short trip across town to neighbours Manchester City on Saturday, knowing defeat will hand their rivals the inevitable fifth top flight success they’ve been threatening since Christmas.
City’s midweek result in the Champions League is bound to have an impact though, their fine form this season deserted them as they found themselves 3-0 down at half time to Liverpool, failing to respond in the second half. That could also impact Guardiola’s team selection this weekend. Will he pull out all the stops to secure a title winning celebration against City’s bitter rivals? Or does the Spaniard rest players in a bid to resurrect their slim European hopes on Tuesday?
Guardiola’s opposite number doesn’t possess such a dilemma, Mourinho’s United side were condemned to an embarrassing last 16 exit at the hands of Sevilla last month. They have won both games since then though. 2-0 home victories against Brighton and Swansea has secured their place in the FA Cup semi finals and cemented their position in the top four as we approach the business end of the season.
This fixture between these two ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw last season, the only real entertainment coming from Marouane Fellaini’s idiotic red card in the latter stages. Jose’s typical defensive approach was successful in suppressing City’s potent attack, but with such an array of attacking talent at his disposal this time round, surely Mourinho won’t opt for a similar game-plan?
Aguero (knee) faces late fitness test. Delph could return, so could Stones. Guardiola may rotate slightly with the Champions League second leg on Tuesday.
Jose Mourinho has a fully fit squad to choose from aside from Sergio Romero who could be out for a few weeks.
Man City Potential Starting XI: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Stones, Delph, Gundogan, Silva, De Bruyne, B Silva, Jesus, Sane
Man United Potential Starting XI: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Young, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial
