Man City v Swansea Betting Preview
Venue: Etihad Stadium (Manchester)
Channel: Sky Sports One
Manchester City will play their first game as the new Premier League champions on Sunday, as they welcome strugglers Swansea City to the Etihad Stadium.
Carlos Carvahal stated that it will be a pleasure to give Manchester City the guard of honour prior to Sunday’s game. He described them as the best team in the league this season, a seemingly obvious interpretation, despite the vast media focus on the amount of money the Blues have spent, and the shortcomings of their rivals.
The transformation of Swansea since his arrival has been unprecedented, though they still find themselves in the very thick of a relegation battle. Their visit to the Etihad won’t be one in which he expects to win, but there can be no disregarding their dedication, teamwork and togetherness, three things that have served them well during his time at the club.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 4-0 victory for Guardiola’s men. The Swans were too easy to play against for City, who found pockets of space in between the lines on numerous occasions. They will certainly need to play a much tighter game if they are to avoid a similar outcome this weekend, although they could be helped with by the expected shuffle of Pep’s pack as he looks to rest some of his key players. The likes of Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva have appeared jaded in recent weeks, which is hardly surprising after being such influential figures in a long, arduous and successful campaign.
On paper, this looks like a nailed on Manchester City victory, but with Swansea fighting for there lives anything can happen in football.
Enjoy the game.
Aguero is sidelined. Mendy could feature. Pep may rotate the squad to give some players a rest after a long, arduous campaign. Stones is doubtful.
Sanches, Bony and Fer are all absent for the Swans. Narsingh, Rangel and Clucas could return.
Man City Potential Starting XI: Ederson, Danilo, Otamendi, Laporte, Mendy, Gundogan, B Silva, Toure, Sterling, Jesus, Sane
