Man Utd v Tottenham Betting Preview
This weekend’s first FA Cup semi-final sees United face Spurs at Wembley on Saturday afternoon. Both sides head into the game with similar league form but the FA Cup will be something both managers want to lift next month, making this a very exciting prospect.
Spurs have the advantage of playing at Wembley all season but Jose Mourinho’s record of trophies speaks volumes. Mourinho has only ever had one season where he has not lifted any silverware and has won the FA Cup once before.
United have had a smooth cup run this season, playing the likes of Derby, Yeovil, Huddersfield and Brighton. They have won all of those games to nil and have scored 10 goals in that process, whilst Spurs have twice been taken to a replay in their cup run.
Romelu Lukaku has enjoyed this tournament, scoring in every round so far including a brace against Huddersfield. He is 12/5 to score anytime against Spurs, which looks very good value.
They drew games against Rochdale and Newport but were comfortable winners when the ties went back to Wembley. They have scored 17 goals in their six games and have scored at least two goals in five of those six games including six against Rochdale in the fifth round. Spurs to score 2+ goals at 6/5 could be a way to go.
The bookies have this as a tight game, with both sides being decent prices for a win. Given both sides are evenly matched, there is always the chance of the game going past 90 minutes. An entertaining game in prospect so BTTS at 4/5 looks a banker.
Sergio Romero is the only first-team player out injured for United, who will no doubt make changes from the side who beat Bournemouth 2-0 in midweek.
Spurs remain without Harry Winks, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker-Peters. Spurs will recall Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Kieran Trippier to the side who drew 1-1 with Brighton.
Potential Man United Starting XI: De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Young; Herrera, Matic, Pogba; Lingard, Lukaku, Sanchez
Potential Spurs Starting XI: Lloris; Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies; Dier, Dembele; Eriksen, Alli, Heung-Min; Kane
