Millwall v Cardiff City Championship Betting Preview

Date: 09/02/18

Time: 19.45

Venue: The Den

Watch: Sky Sports

Cardiff travel to Millwall on Friday night looking to move level on points on second-placed Derby County as the race for promotion hots up.

Millwall will be looking to bounce back quickly from their shock FA Cup exit at the hands of League One Rochdale in midweek.

The Lions were in a good run of form prior to their defeat to Rochdale having gone six games unbeaten to climb 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Millwall have been strong at the Den this season, losing just three games at home in the Championship and they will make things tough for promotion-chasing Cardiff.

Cardiff have rediscovered their best form after a sticky patch during the Christmas period which saw them lose four straight games.

The Bluebirds have picked up seven points from the last nine available, including big wins over Sunderland and Leeds.

Cardiff should be the fresher of the two sides with Millwall playing their third game in just six days after their midweek exertions in the FA Cup.

Team News

Millwall boss Neil Harris is set to recall a number of stars who he rested for the midweek FA Cup replay defeat to Rochdale.

Jordan Archer, Jake Cooper, Jed Wallace, Lee Gregory and Steve Morison are all set to return to the starting line-up, while new signing Ben Marshall could also start, but Tim Cahill is again likely to miss out.

Cardiff welcome back Joe Bennett from suspension, but he may have to content himself with a place on the bench after Armand Traore impressed on his debut last weekend against Leeds.

Gary Madine could make his first start after making his debut off the bench against Leeds with Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock unlikely to make too many changes to the side that thumped Leeds 4-1 last time out.

Potential Millwall Starting XI: Millwall 4-4-2 formation: Archer; McLaughlin, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith, Wallace, Saville, Williams, Marshall, Gregory, Morison

Potential Cardiff Starting XI: Cardiff 3-4-2-1 formation: Etheridge; Manga, Morrison, Bamba; Paterson, Grujic, Ralls, Traore, Wildschut, Hoilett, Madine
