Millwall v Fulham Championship Betting Preview
Venue: The Den
The two most in-form sides in the Championship go head-to-head on Friday night as Millwall play host to Fulham with both teams having their sights on winning promotion to the Premier League.
Millwall have moved into the play-off positons off the back of a stunning 17-game unbeaten run as Neil Harris’ side go in search of back-to-back promotions having gone up from League One last season.
The Lions have a difficult run-in for the last three games of the season against fellow promotion hopefuls Fulham, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa and Harris will be keen to extend their unbeaten run against high-flying Fulham.
Fulham have been on a relentless run of form going 21 games unbeaten to catapult them into contention for automatic promotion from the Championship.
Fulham’s chances of automatic promotion took a huge dent as they conceded a last-minute equaliser against Brentford last time out, but a win on Friday will move them back into the top two ahead of Cardiff for 24 hours at least.
Fulham got the better of Millwall in the first meeting at Craven Cottage in November thanks to Oliver Norwood’s penalty
You have to go all the way back to New Year’s Day for the last time either Fulham or Millwall lost a Championship match and the form both teams are in and what is at stake should ensure that this is a tense cagey affair at the Den.
Millwall boss Neil Harris has no new injury or suspension worries and is expected to choose from an unchanged squad.
Defender Byron Webster is Millwall’s only long-term injury absentee as he works his way back from knee surgery.
Tim Cahill is likely to have to content himself with a place on the bench as Harris keeps faith with the players who have helped Millwall go on their long unbeaten run.
Fulham are again likely to be without Floyd Ayite as the forward recovers from a hamstring injury he picked up against Sheffield Wednesday earlier this month.
Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has no injury worries to contend with and could stick with the side that drew with Brentford last time out.
Potential Millwall Starting XI: Millwall 4-4-2 formation: Archer; Romeo, Hutchinson, Cooper, Meredith; Wallace, Williams, Saville, Marshall; Morison, Gregory
Potential Fulham Starting XI: Fulham 4-3-3- formation: Bettinelli; Fredericks, Odoi, Ream; Targett, McDonald, Cairney, Johansen; Sessegnon, Piazon, Mitrović
