Napoli v Roma Betting Preview
Venue: Stadio San Paulo
Channel: BT Sport 2
Napoli’s title credentials look set to be tested sternly in the next few weeks, starting with Roma at home this weekend. They are now four points clear of Juventus, who’s game at the weekend was postponed because of the snow. They are on a 10 match winning run in the league and have lost just once all season, conceding just 15 goals so far this campaign also.
Roma’s challenge is a massive one, but one they must try and get something from. They sit a point behind Inter in the fourth and final remaining Champions League spot and know they cannot let them pull away from them at this point in the season.
Napoli have played so well all season long and it does not look like anyone can stop them at the moment, other than Juventus. Napoli and Juve have dominated the league and look set to battle it out all the way to the final game of the season. Napoli will know that just one slip-up could cost them the title, especially given the match between Napoli and Juventus is in Turin next month.
Looking at the betting side of things, it is hard to look past a Napoli win. At 8/13 they are probably a good price, considering they are at home and generally do not drop points at the San Paulo. Over 2.5 goals at 13/18 could be a good way to go as Napoli have seen this in five of their last seven home games in all competitions.
There could be some value in Roma in this game, however. They have won 18 of their last 19 away games in Serie A, with their last defeat on their travels coming back in December, against Juventus. In Cengiz Under, they have a player in form as he has scored in both of Roma’s last two away games in the league.
Roma did lose to Milan at the weekend by two goals to nil and they do have the lowest goal scoring record of the top 6 teams in Italy. Against a Napoli defence that have conceded 15 goals all season, Roma will have to hope they can create more goal-scoring opportunities than they do normally. Edin Dzeko has only scored 11 goals this season in the league and Roma will have to hope he is in better form this weekend if Roma are to get anything from this.
In a big game like this it could be a close game. Napoli seem to be able to grind out results in every game and this could be the case here. Draw half-time/ Napoli full-time at 77/20 with MarathonBet looks a really good bet for this game. Could be another huge three points for Napoli this weekend.
Ghoulam remain out for Napoli, as Marco Rui looks set to continue his stint in the side. Maurizio Sarri has a fully fit squad otherwise to choose from.
Roma also have the luxury of a fully fit squad to choose from.
Potential Napoli Starting XI: Reina; Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Rui; Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik; Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
Potential Roma Starting XI: Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Strootman, Rossi; Under, Nainggolan, Perotti; Dzeko
