Newcastle v Leicester Betting Preview
Date: 9th December
Channel: BT Sport
Stadium: St. James Park
Since Claude Puel was hired Leicester have rocketed up the table and find themselves in 9th place as we enter the Christmas period. They have lost just once in their last 10 outings (Manchester City) and have beaten Spurs in the process.
Newcastle on the other hand haven’t had a win in 6, and see themselves slipping further towards the relegation zone. Some heavy defeats have played their hand in really deflating what was a positive start to the season, and fans will point to the 3-0 home loss to Watford in particular as a disappointing result.
Still, St James Park is a tough place to go and Newcastle will back themselves to get a result. If they can get Jonjo Shelvey playing, it will put them in good stead for the game, especially if he can feed the front men.
The way Leicester set up, a draw really wouldn’t surprise me, and I think they would take it considering how poor they are away from home in general. If Leicester can turn the King Power into a fortress this season and pick the odd point up here and there away from home, they will be in the top half of the table no problem.
- Jamaal Lascelles is a doubt for Newcastle, as is Christian Atsu.
- Matty James is out for Newcastle, while Kelechi Iheanacho is doubtful, even though he has rarely been used.
