A four-game unbeaten run has lifted Newcastle away from the relegation zone and three successive wins means the Magpies are now four points clear of the bottom three. Newcastle are also unbeaten in their last four home meetings with West Ham, winning three.

Just as it seemed West Ham had turned a corner, a run of one win from seven matches has seen them drop down the table. They are now level on points with Saturday's opponents, but need to pick themselves up quickly to most past their 4-0 hammering at the hands of Manchester City last weekend

Team News

Rafa Benitez is without Florian Lejeune and Karl Darlow for the welcome of West Ham.

Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles and Yoshinori Muto will all be assessed prior to kick off, but have trained ahead of Saturday's game.

Javier Manquillo may come into the side in place of Ciaran Clark from the 2-1 win over Burnley, with Matt Ritchie pushed back into midfield.

Robert Snodgrass returns from suspension for West Ham after he missed the 4-0 loss to Manchester City.

Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez, Andriy Yarmolenko and Ryan Fredericks all miss out for the Hammers.

Marko Arnautovic and Jack Wilshere are doubts for Manuel Pellegrini, with Chicharito in line to deputise for the former, though Andy Carroll will look to play a part after making the bench last time out.

Potential Newcastle Starting XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Schar, Fernandez, Manquillo, Ritchie, Sung-yeung, Diame, Kenedy, Rondon and Perez

Potential West Ham Starting XI: Fabianski, Zabaleta, Balbuena, Diop, Cresswell, Diangana, Obiang, Rice, Noble, Anderson and Chicharito

The Verdict

The implied odds from the odds compilers themselves suggest even with Newcastle’s recent great run, even with the home bias are weighted around 40% of the match price book. With West Ham a tad over 2’s and likewise for the draw for form guide punters, the selection is simple is it not? Newcastle £10 will return £25 simple?

Newcastle have won all of the last three by a single goal and Marathonbet punt 16/5 they follow suit again.

One bet in particular worth a look is the corner count. Toon have taken 47 corners at home this term averaging just under seven corners per game. They have been awarded five or more in all of their last five home.

The Hammers in their six away games have conceded 34 corners averaging 5.67 corners per game. With Newcastle around 5/6 to win the corner count is one consideration. Bet365 punt 11/10 the hosts are awarded six or more corners and based on current form would be a play with the fluid style of football both sides play.

The bet we would have recommended was for Newcastle on the Asian Corner line to hit five or more which was 79/100 with Marathonbet. It has since trimmed to 71/100 and would have meant the magic mark being five to trigger a refund. All other bookies are odds on for the mighty Toon to hit six or more apart from Bet365 who are 11/10 and we head this way.
