League Two Newport County caused one of the third-round’s surprises as they came from behind to beat Leeds 2-1. Mike Flynn has done a remarkable job since he’s gone into the South-Wales based side. They’ve made Rodney Parade a fortress, embracing the pitch and their direct-style. Their home form was integral to their survival last season too; they closed the season winning four-consecutive home games. Newport will make life tough for Spurs, and the scrappy pitch and small-intense crowd should play into their hands.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side reached the FA Cup semi-final last season, and reached this stage beating Wimbledon 3-0 at Wembley. But that game was not as comfortable as the result suggests. Not until the introduction of Son and Dele Alli did Spurs make real inroads. With Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela out, Pochettino has limited attacking options so may well have to go strong at the attacking end of the pitch. But Spurs host Manchester United on Wednesday, before playing away at Liverpool, at home to Arsenal and away to Juventus in a two-week period. So that’s something to bear in mind when trying to predict team selection
