Norwich will be looking to end their five-match winless run against Garry Monk’s Birmingham City.

The Canaries held fellow promotion challengers West Brom to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the Hawthorns courtesy of a late Jordan Rhodes equaliser. However, recent results have seen Daniel Farke’s side slip out of the top two on goal difference.

Norwich will be looking to take advantage of their strong home form, which has only seen them lose four times at Carrow Road in the Championship this season, as they will be keen to grab their first win of 2019.

Though play-off hopefuls Birmingham will be looking to inflict further pain on Norwich as they also hunt for their first win in 2019. A win for the Blues could see them close the gap to the play-offs to one point as well as going eight points behind opponents Norwich.

Birmingham suffered defeat last time out to Middlesbrough with Che Adams’ equaliser cancelled out by a late Britt Assombalonga goal which saw Birmingham lose only their second game at St Andrew’s this season.

Team News

Most of Norwich’s injured players were made available for selection against West Brom last week, with Jamal Lewis, Emi Buendia, Alex Tettey and Louis Thompson all now available for Farke.

Norwich will be without Moritz Leitner who is still suffering from an ankle injury, while Carlton Morris is back in training following his serious knee injury.

Jordan Rhodes could find himself in the starting eleven following his goal at West Brom, but top goalscorer Pukki will likely lead the front line.

Birmingham will have a fully fit Isaac Vassell at their disposal with the striker making a ten-minute cameo against Middlesbrough following a lengthy time out with injury.

Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz will likely be the front two, with the former looking to continue his recent goalscoring streak.

Potential Norwich City Starting XI: Krul, Lewis, Godfreu, Zimmerman, Aarons, Vrancic, Tettey, Hernandez, Cantwell, Buendia Stati, Pukki

Potential Birmingham City Starting XI: Camp, Colin, Morrison, Dean, Pedersen, Jota, Gardner, Kieftenbeld, Maghoma, Jutkiewicz, Adams

Head To Head

  • Overall record: Norwich 23, Birmingham 23, Draw 23.
  • When these two faced off in August nothing could separate the two as it ended in a 2-2 draw.
  • Norwich ran out 1-0 winners in this fixture last season.

Key Stats & Facts

  • Birmingham have not won at Carrow Road since March 2002.
  • Norwich have conceded the second most amount of goals at home in the league, with 22 goals scored against the Canaries at home.
  • Monk’s side have only won two of their last seven away games in all competitions.

Betting Odds

  • Norwich City 4/5
  • Draw 12/5
  • Birmingham City 15/4

The Verdict

Despite Norwich being poor in recent weeks, they do have the quality to get themselves back into the top two where they have spent a majority of the season.

Top goalscorer Teemu Pukki will be looking to add to his figure of 15 goals so far this season after it’s been confirmed by his agent that he will be staying at Carrow Road this winter.

Monk and company will be keen to end their recent hoodoo at Carrow Road. While their away form has been fairly average, they have sprung up surprises away from home, most notably beating Leeds at Elland Road 2-1 in September.

Che Adams will be looking to add to his tally of 13 goals, with the 22-year-old notching four goals in his last six outings.

However, Norwich’s strong home form – which has seen them only lose four times in 13 matches at Carrow Road- should see them over the line. With it being a Friday night game, Norwich will be keen to win and apply pressure to their promotion rivals ahead of the weekend fixtures.
