This weekend’s set of Championship fixtures is kicking off this Friday night with a game that promises to be an exciting event. Preston v Bolton, or more commonly known as the fierce Lancashire derby, where the two sides will be using this heated rivalry to gain some much-needed points. Preston currently sit 14th within the Championship, however, they are without a win in seven fixtures which has become somewhat of a concern to the Lilywhites in recent times. Despite this, due to injuries to Maguire and Hudgill, this paves a wonderful opportunity for exciting young forward Stephy Mavididi, a loanee from Arsenal.
In regards to Bolton, they certainly need the points more than ever. With the Wanderers sitting 23rd in the league and five points from safety, it is safe to say that it isn’t the best time to be a Bolton fan. However, despite sitting so far down the table, the Wanderers are actually beginning to turn their performances around. Interestingly, Bolton did not lose a single fixture in October within the league and are currently unbeaten in five fixtures, recording two wins. Therefore, this creates a very exciting Lancashire derby.
