After winning the competition in each of the last two seasons, Real Madrid are aiming to make it three on the bounce. But Zinedine Zidane’s men have not started the new campaign in quite the same vein. They’re already five points behind Barcelona in La Liga although they’ve won both of their Champions League games so far. Cristiano Ronaldo already has four goals in Europe this season but it is the form of Isco that has caught the eye. The Spaniard has earned many plaudits with his early season performances. Madrid are without Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal this Tuesday.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs will be delighted with their start in Europe this season. After last season’s disappointment, they’ve won two from two, including an impressive win against Dortmund at Wembley. Domestically, Spurs lie 3rd in the Premier League. Pochettino has on the whole stuck with a back three and the addition of Davinson Sanchez has benefitted Toby Alderweireld who has been able to step out with the ball as the right of the three. However, with Ben Davies ill and Danny Rose lacking match fitness, Pochettino will either use Kieran Trippier as his left wing-back or play a back four with Jan Vertonghen at full-back. Dele Alli will serve the final game of his suspension.
Gareth Bale, Mateo Kovacic and Dani Carvajal are out. Keylor Navas is a doubt.
Victor Wanyama, Erik Lamela, Ben Davies and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou are out. Dele Alli is suspended. Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose are doubts.
