Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk Betting Preview
Venue: Stadio Olimpico
Channel: BT Sports 3
Roma will have to overcome a 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar if they want to progress to the quarter-finals for the first time in a decade. The Ukrainian side are also looking to go to the last eight for the first time since 2011. The uphill battle that Roma face has been made easier thanks to the vital away goal that Ünder managed to score in the first leg. Shakhtar have been on tremendous form since the start of the year, winning all 5 of the games they’ve played. Roma have also been doing well, and their fight for 3rd place is going well, cementing their place in the Champions League for next season.
Despite the tie being very open, the Ukrainians don’t have a very convincing away record in the Champions League. Back in the group stages they lost to Manchester City and Napoli away from home, whilst only narrowly beating PSV. Roma are unbeaten in 14 of their 20 home games this season, which combined with the surprising amount of goals coming from Dzeko makes them a dark horse in the competition, providing they go through to the next round.
Roma head into the match with everyone available. However, Shakhtar will be without key player Darijo Srna and Maksim Malyshev.
Potential Roma Starting XI: Alisson, Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov, Rossi, Strootman, Ünder, Nainggolan, Perotti, Dzeko.
Potential Shakhtar Starting XI: Pyatov, Butko, Ordets, Rakitskiy, Ismaily, Fred, Stepanenko, Marlos, Taison, Bernard, Ferreyra.
