One of the most popular and respected bookmakers to come out of the United Kingdom – with a history spanning almost a century and betting shops scattered across the country – William Hill needs no introduction. The question remains, however: is William Hill really right up there with the best of the best? Or has age gotten the better of it? In the case of debit cards, there is a minimum deposit requirement of £5 and a maximum deposit of £99,000. Withdrawals take 1 to 3 days and there is a minimum withdrawal amount of £5.
The minimum deposit with all e-wallets is £10. PayPal has a maximum deposit of £5,500, whilst Skrill and NETELLER have no maximum limits. You must withdraw at least £10 when using PayPal and this will take 1 working day. Skrill and NETELLER payment are not permitted to UK customers.
Use the correct styling when referring to payment methods. For example, e-wallets should be written as such with all letters in lowercase and a hyphen after the ‘e’. Skrill should have the first letter capitalised, PayPal should have both ‘P’s capitalised and NETELLER should be written all in uppercase. This styling also applies to any article published on TPP that mentions payment methods.
With Fast Bank Transfer, the minimum deposit lies at £10 with a maximum of £10,000. Withdrawals take between 3 to 5 working days and to make a withdrawal you will need to withdrawal at least £5.
All cash vouchers or pre-paid cards have a minimum deposit of £10. William Hill CashDirect has a maximum deposit of £5,000, with a minimum withdrawal of £10 that will be processed instantly. Paysafecard has a maximum deposit of £200 and a minimum withdrawal of £25, which will be processed in 3-5 working days. Although Neosurf is available to UK customers, they currently only accept vouchers in EUR. This option has a maximum deposit amount of €12,000 and a minimum deposit amount of €10, which will be processed in €3-5 working days.
If you wish to use a cash transfer to make a deposit into your account, there is a minimum deposit requirement of £25 and a maximum deposit of £100,000. The minimum withdrawal amount is £25, and will take 3-5 working days via bank transfer and 5-10 working days via bank cheque.
It is important to note that if you wish to withdraw less than the minimum withdrawal requirement, you can still make the withdrawal as long as the amount is your total balance.
NB: Due to changes in UK legislation, since April 2020 customers will no longer be permitted to deposit money on betting sites using Credit Cards.

With all that said, we know that seeing is truly believing. That’s why not only have we explained what to expect, but we are going to show you by presenting our actual process of depositing, betting with and withdrawing funds.

One area where William Hill definitely excels is in the abundance of sportsbook promotions that it offers to its players. With a mixture of free bets, special odds, and money back rewards in specific football, horse racing, tennis, and cricket offers as well other general sports promotions, no matter what you are interested in betting on, you will likely find a offer to take advantage of. What is even better is that these promotions are constantly being updated, so if you don’t see something that interests you, check back in a couple of weeks and see what’s been added.
Give an overall view of what kind of promotions the bookmaker has. Rather than describing exactly what the offers are at the time of writing, keep it general by saying, for example, that the promotions are constantly being updated. Like this, the information won’t become redundant or outdated as time goes by.
At the time of writing (06/2020) the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many bookmakers to halt their usual sportsbook promotions due to many sport events having been cancelled. In this case, explain the situation and that any lack of current promotions available are not the fault of the bookmaker.
William Hill’s Bet Boost gives you the chance to get enhanced odds on your acca bets which have 3+ selections. The bigger the price, the bigger the boost. To take advantage of this offer simply choose your selections, apply your stake, and select the Bet Boost button on your bet slip. The maximum stake that can be boosted is £20, and this boost is available on all sports except for Horse Racing and Greyhounds.
The Tennis and Cricket In-Play Insurance promotion allows you to get 10% of your in-play losses (up to £100) back as a free bet. Free bets for the previous week will be credited every Monday. Bets must be placed on singles only and must be placed on in-play matches. Multi bets and pre-match bets are not valid for the offer.

You cannot become of one of top betting sites in the world if you do not have a good sportsbook – so, as you can imagine, William Hill’s pre-match offering is on a highly elevated level. At the time of writing, players can choose to place bets on no less than 34 different sports. Each sport consists of lots of different leagues (both major and minor) from all around the world and as you would expect, include an abundance of international sporting events. Within each league, you can choose to bet on an incredible number of markets and submarkets. The top match of the day had 385 different markets so bet on, including the likes of total team cards, double chance, and half time/full time. William Hill also provides Enhanced Odds on selected markets for you to enjoy.
Mention how many sports players can bet on and describe the amount of submarkets that are offered (many, not a lot of, a few, etc).
All that being said, however, there is no point in having a fantastic sportsbook offering if your odds are not competitive and attractive to players. To measure the quality of William Hill’s margins we used the odds overround. The overround is a calculation which combines the total percentage probability of all selections in a match coming true. Naturally, the result of this should come to 100% – however this does not factor in the profits made by the bookmaker. For this reason, it is widely accepted that any figure below 110% is considered to indicate fair odds.
To measure the quality of William Hill’s odds, we picked three random football matches from the English Premier League: Spanish La Liga, and UEFA Champions League. The results came to 105.0%, 105.3 and 106.5% which show that William Hill’s margins are in fact very competitive. William Hill also offers live streaming on selected sporting events. To use this feature, you will need to have a positive betting account balance or have placed a bet within the last 24 hours. To watch live horse racing on William Hill TV (WHTV), you will need to bet a minimum of £1 on a qualifying race.

The company places a strong emphasis on responsible gambling. As a William Hill customer, if you are concerned about the amount that you are gambling, you will be able to set a series of controls on your account, including Deposit Limits, Product Blocking, Session Time Reminders, Short Time Out, and Total Self Exclusions. The site also lists tips for identifying problematic gambling, parental control tools to prevent underage betting, and numerous links to third party gambling addiction support groups.
William Hill offers a comprehensive Privacy Policy section on its website detailing how customer data is collected and used by the customer. Although the site says that it uses ‘various measures’ to protect its customers’ data, at the time of writing, there was no further information listed as to what these measures are.
This section should include:
- The licences that the bookmaker has and how trustworthy they are (for example, UK and Malta licences are considered to be the most reliable)

William Hill offers a robust help section with detailed answers on a vast number of queries and topics that users might have. It is clear to see that a lot of time has been invested into making this feature very user-friendly. If you are unable to find an answer to your query, however, you can contact William Hill’s customer service team 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through a variety of channels, including live chat, telephone, email, or social media.
Mention what the communication channels are (onsite messages, live chat, phone, email, etc). Describe them in as much detail as you can: how accessible they are, their availability (is customer support 24/7 or does it operate within certain hours?). Mention the FAQ section if available.
With that said, seeing is believing, so we checked out the customer service via live chat and e-mail. We couldn’t, at the time of writing, get through on their usual phone lines, however this is due to the current coronavirus pandemic of 2020, which has unfortunately caused staff shortages. Obviously, we will not take this into account in our scores.
The first time we got in touch with customer service was while we waited for a successful bet to be processed. This was a minor technical error and they sorted it out right away, reassured us about the result and also asked if we wanted any other assistance once the problem had been resolved. Fast and informative – we really couldn’t find anything to fault here.
Our interactions via e-mail were just as impressive. One important note before we move on, though: the customer service team will only respond to you if you have a registered account; we tried to contact them from an unregistered e-mail, but were unable to. So, keep that in mind. The response here though is excellent – we asked about using the same method to withdraw as we used to deposit, and the amount of detail given was truly above and beyond. The only criticism we have is that we think that the e-mail service should be also available to those without accounts, because people may have questions before signing up. Other than that, our experience was virtually flawless.
If possible, reach out to customer support yourself via each of these channels at least once and give the appropriate feedback, describing your experience with screenshots. Describe the speed of the response, how friendly the customer service agent was, and so on. Include screenshots of chat and email transcripts.

Combining the simple, timeless design seen on many betting sites, the William Hill website looks great. Some might say that this design is a little too conservative, especially since the site has a majority white colour scheme; however, given that William Hill is almost 90 years old, we think a classic look fits this aesthetic perfectly. The site is also available in 17 different languages.

All other aspects of the William Hill’s website are laid out nicely, and the various tabs leading to the sports betting markets (and the company’s other betting platforms) are very easy to find. Sliders fill up the upper and easternmost portions of the site, but fit into the layout cleanly and do not look gimmicky in any way. On a more important level, the overall betting process from start to finish is very easy and uncomplicated, and the Help, Responsible Gambling, and Contact links can be found at the bottom of the page, with the ‘Join’ tab clearly visible at the top of the page. Overall, everything comes together seamlessly for a highly user-friendly betting experience.
Describe the overall design style of the site: is it gimmicky, flashy, classic, simple, modern? Mention the level of user-friendliness and how easy it is to navigate. Explain where certain features such as the Help section, the Responsible Gaming tab, the sign-up/Join section and the Contact links can be found on the page. The William Hill mobile app is available to download for free on both Android and Apple devices, and is one of the most comprehensive betting apps we have ever seen. Navigating between the different sections of the app is extremely straightforward, with all pages being highly responsive. Everything is laid out nicely, which is no easy feat given the sheer amount features that have been packed into this app. Promotions, in-play betting, live scores, #YourOdds bet requests, customer service, deposit options and casino are just some of the many features you can take advantage of while betting on the go with William Hill.
Mention if whether the site’s app is available on Android or Apple (or both). Sometimes, the app can only be downloaded from the betting site itself – if so, make sure you mention this. Describe the app and its quality, including how good the graphics are, whether or not the same promotions as the main site are available and any other features that it has.

It ticks all the right boxes, offering an abundance of professionally designed features that can easily appeal to both novice and expert bettors. A few very minor snags here and there are the reason we are not giving William Hill full marks; however; the company’s pros overshadow these slight flaws by a long shot. We would have absolutely no trouble recommending William Hill to anybody who is thinking of beginning their betting journey – or to those who simply want to try out a new bookmaker.
