Serbia v Chile Betting Preview, Tips & Odds
Venue: Merkur Arena
Serbia entertain Chile in Austria on Monday evening with less than two weeks until Serbia head to this years World Cup in Russia whilst Chile, against high odds, failed to qualify. Serbia face a tough task of getting out of Group E, with Brazil and Switzerland looking the most likely to qualify. However, with a win here against The Chileans and indeed again on Saturday against Bolivia, they can go into the competition with high hopes, dreams and an air of confidence. Former Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov will lead his national team out at the World Cup with sights of making it through to the knock-out stages for the first time since 1998, having failed to progress in South Africa and failing to qualify for the last time out in Brazil. They are a well-grooved national team with strong players with quality, especially with newly-promoted Mitrovic spearheading the attack, with an illustrious playmaker in Dusan Tadic floating around behind him.
Unfortunately for Chile they failed to qualify after being ever impressive in the latest Copa America, winning it thanks to undulations of excitement from Alexis Sanchez. Chile’s main man has had a strange opening few months in Manchester, a transfer so hyped and expected to prove a success that it hasn’t really taken off just yet. His red devil career is smoking and juddering on the launchpad before his own planned ascent high into the clouds and into the history books at the world’s richest football club. Sanchez is one of a kind for the Chilean national team, a true treasure who is loved, but it is going to take more than him to lean the Chileans away from his dependency. Russia 2018 is a no go but this perhaps gives them a sense of freedom to express themselves here against Serbia. Judging by their recent form however I expect a Serbia win here to project them and go into the world cup with confidence and high aspirations to defy the odds.
No teams have any fresh injury worries.
Potential Serbia Starting XI: Stojkovic, Ivanovic, Nastasic, Kolarov, Rukavina, Matic, Tadic, Milivojevic, Kostic, Ljajic, Mitrovic
Potential Chile Starting XI: Collao, Medel, Maripan, Lichnovsky, Diaz, Vegas, Reyes, Rodriguez, Sanchez, Castillo, Vardas
