Sevilla v Liverpool Betting Preview
Liverpool go into tonight’s tie knowing three points will secure their qualification to the round of 16 stage of the Champions League.
Liverpool are top of the group with eight points from their four games so far whilst Sevilla sit in second just a point behind. Liverpool’s two wins in a row against Maribor have put them in a strong position to qualify ahead of their difficult trip to Spain to play Sevilla.
Sevilla sit in fifth position in La Liga, with a record of seven wins, one draw and four losses. They have struggled in-front of goal, scoring just 14 in their opening twelve matches whilst defensively they have also struggled, conceding 12 times.
However, their home form is very strong. At the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, they have not lost all season in any competition. They have won seven of their eight home games in both the Champions League and La Liga and have scored at least twice at home in seven of their nine at home.
Liverpool’s issues are well documented but have won three games in a row now and go to Sevilla on the back of 7-0 and 3-0 wins over Maribor in the last two rounds.
Looking at the betting, both teams to score looks extremely likely but at 8/15 there isn’t much value in it. Sevilla have had over 2.5 goals in six of their last nine goals and you can back that in this one at 13/20 with SportingBets.
Liverpool have been in good goal scoring form of late and have actually scored 3+ goals in five of their last six games and Liverpool to score three goals or more at 16/5 with Coral does represent some good value at a slightly larger price.
However, the best bet I like for this game is Liverpool to win and both teams to score a 10/3 with Bet365. They are in good form at the moment and in Mo Salah, they are scoring plenty of goals. Sevilla always score at home so I do fancy them to get one and given the defensive frailties of Liverpool, they could score more. However, Sevilla have not looked too impressive this season and Liverpool should have too much for them.
Daniel Carrico and Nico Pareja both miss out for Sevilla whilst Joel Matip is still recovering from a thigh injury so wont be involved, whilst Adam Lallana is still not quite match ready.
Potential Sevilla Starting XI: Rico; Mercado, Kjaer, Lenglet, Escuerdo; Krohn-Delhi, N’Zonzi, Banega; Correa, Yedder, Nolito
Potential Liverpool Starting XI: Karius; Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Coutinho; Salah, Firmino Mane
